A SILENCE SO LOUD

(This poem I wrote when I was going through a very rough season in my life, it somehow captured my then emotions and archived the image of that particular time.)

With tears streaming down my cheeks
The almost impossible daily stares me in the face
I cry a silent weep
I wail and tears wet me within
I fail forward, relentless refusing to die before day break

Like a battle horse
I am the strength, honor and hope of my rider
Vision is my rider

But like an expecting womb which never brings forth
I am engulfed with sorrow and the pangs of a dream unborn
Chance daily declined but opportunity never denied

Almost blinded by human ambition
Day break seems hazy
As laughter fades,
From watching the eyes grow lazy
Anticipation in my mind is now like much caffeine

It’s driving me crazy

Every night I die
Every night I die
Every night I become a corpse on my bed
I dream with my eyes wide open
Tucked in warm blankets
Yet where I lay in the corners of my mind
It’s cold and destitute

Like an expecting womb which never brings forth
I am engulfed with sorrow and the pangs of a dream unborn
Chance daily declined but opportunity never denied
